They were one of the finest rhythm sections in jazz and evidence of that is on this album. The album was recorded during two sessions separated by almost three years. The first session was in NYC on July 2, during which Angel Eyes, Will You Still Be Mine and The Night We Called It A Day were recorded/5(7).

Angel Eyes. As with Dave Brubeck 's Richard Rodgers set (My Favorite Things), his tribute to composer Matt Dennis was recorded partly in with the remainder three years later. Each of these seven standards (which include "Let's Get Away from It All," "Violets for Your Furs" and "Will You Still Be Mine?") are given superior and swinging.
I've loved this album for a long time having purchased a stereo vinyl copy four decades ago, particularly the track "Will You Still be Mine". Imagine my surprise when I found a discarded, clean, MONO copy of ANGEL EYES in my local library, took it home and discovered that the mono track of "Will You Still be Mine" is an alternate take, running about /2 minutes longer than the stereo take and completely /5(25).
